2007
Episcopal Counseling Center of Central Florida, Inc.
Mission:
Promoting Wholeness and Spiritual Growth in a Christ-like atmosphere
of Love.
In
2007 the Episcopal Counseling Center continued to build on the financial
turnaround that began in 2006.
Our focus was on what we do best; providing an emotional respite, a safe
place, a sanctuary for those who are hurting.
We also put attention and focus on the future of ECC and began a
development process of maintaining the quality of our staff, improving our
marketing strategy and fundraising to improve our financial stability.
We consider these three areas to be critical to our continued
success.
In 2007 we built on our relationship with Rollins College Counseling
Program. Marabeth Dexheimer,
our Rollins Student Intern, completed her two semesters with us in May.
We have contracts now with the University of Central Florida School
of Social Work and Palm Beach Atlantic
University.
June through December of 2007 we were blessed to have Cindy Guiles, a
student from Palm Beach Atlantic work with us.
Our student counselors have completed the educational portion of
their Master’s Degree and work under the supervision of Dale Eshleman, LMFT.
We charge $5 each for sessions with our student counselors.
In June we added a new therapist to our staff, Mark Sears, M.A., IMH.
Mark is a member of the Cathedral Church of St. Luke and a graduate
of the Counseling program at Reformed Theological Seminary.
Mark brings additional experience in working with adolescents and
their families, addictions, and dealing with men’s issues.
In June we also made an appeal for our Barnabas Fund, which is used
to assist those with a financial need to receive counseling at our center.
Thanks to your generous response we added $4,759 to the fund to be
distributed to clients. Since
creating the fund in 1999 we have not had to turn down a single applicant.
More than $400 in donations came from clients who had previously
applied for assistance from the fund.
In
2007 more than 6,000 counseling sessions were held through our offices.
This represents an increase by approximately 800 sessions over 2006!
In addition we have offered continuing education seminars for
therapists, clergy and laypeople on topics such as:
Safeguarding God’s Children, Beauty for Ashes, Suicide Prevention,
Five Love Languages, Domestic Violence, Coping with Trauma, and Parenting
Without Pressure.
We are pleased to be able to serve as a resource for the Central Florida community and we look forward to being of
service to you through our educational offerings or through family,
individual or couple counseling.
Please make use of our toll free phone number (800) 544-1817 as well
